Hey ladies! I’ve been away this past week… Forgive me! My parents are in town (from France) and I had very little time to do what I got to do. Anyway, while I was surfing on the web this morning, I came accross this new Designer Hakan Yldirim from turkey, and shame on me for not noticing him a couple month ago during the fashion week reviews! He won the 220 000 euros grant for the price of “Young Fashion Creation” in France. This contest is open to all countries and held by the Ministry of Culture, Pierre Bergé, LVMH, as well as Gucci Group. Amongst previous winners of this grant, there was Gareth Pugh (in 2008), Bruno Pieters (in 2007), Natalia Brilli (in 2006), and Felipe Oliveira Baptista (in 2005).

39-year-old, Hakaan is not a complete stranger in the fashion industry. His last fahion show in London in February, already had provoked the enthusiasm of the public, where Carine Roitfeld (editor in chief of french Vogue), sitting in the front row already appeared. Models like Natalia Vodianova and Mariacarla Boscono, worn its autumn and winter collection 2010-2011 with style. The Turkish creator also benefits from the support of the famous fashion photographer Mert Alas.

Hakan won the heart of  Carine Roitfeld (forewoman of the jury this year) with a collection made of structured lines, luxurious materials and radically sexy spirit. Others nominated were Mark Fast, Francesco Scognamiglio, Bouchra Jarrar, Calla Haynes and Alexandre Vauthier.

For this coming Winter, while Marc Jacobs, Prada, Dries Van Noten and several other Designers were inspired by the generous silhouette of the fifties, Isabel Marant prefers to get her inspiration by the rockabilly youth of this decade… And I can say that I am impressed again!

The girls walk in skinny jeans stopping above the ankle, wearing pointy shoes with a knot on the side, and a ponytail. A young and refreshing look which proves that, season after season, the Parisian designer knows how to renew her style while remaining recognizable.

The red pants (aslo present at the Givenchy show) and the little scarf around the neck are really cute and look very cool to me.

Usually Isabel Marant prefers her models looking natural, but this time she added a thick line of eyeliner for a retro touch. The big pair of earrings with strasses are enhanced combined with the natural makeup. I love it.

Erin Wasson, here is dressed in one of the numerous leggings in metallic sequins of the collection. The plain rock style corresponds very well to the “rough and ready” spirit of the designer.

I love this khaki combination of the coat and the shirt.

The golden lamé brings a touch of flamboyance to this cameo of earth colors.

While the previous seasons focused on shoulders, Marc Jacobs decided to emphasize the waist and breast of women this season. The silhouettes are neo-fifties style with dresses tight above the waist and very wide below it. How do you like it??

Karl Lagerfeld invited his guests in the North Pole for a spectacular show in the Grand Palais. This fall and winter collection 2010-2011 is dedicated to furs. However, while at Fendi (for whom Karl Lagerfeld also works), they are all real, at Chanel, this season, they are all fake! When they don’t recover boots, furs are sown, knit, woven in the tweed, signature of the Maison. Declined under all its forms, the fur even turns into pants! It has the merit to warm-up the coldest of us.

Big disparity of styles last week in the Parisian Fashion Week: while Nicolas Ghesquière pushes the research at Balenciaga, Christophe Decarnin prefers to cover the women of golod. On Thursday morning, Balenciaga seems to have transformed a floor of the hotel Crillon into a laboratory. On an illuminated podium, Nicolas Ghesquière is once again the most experimental of the current Designers. While the rest of them revisit the previous decades, Balenciaga prefers to look forward, exploiting completely the technological resources of the 21st century.

Every silhouette on the runway present such an assembly of different materials that it is difficult to identify each one. Certain of the colors of the past season – putty, mandarin, green almond – re-appear on thick belted tunics, on top of narrow pants printed of geometrical motifs. The texture effects intrigue as net blouses mix with conteoured dresses.

Balmain

At Balmain, far from trying to revolutionize the fashion, Christophe Decarnin wishes to emphasize the women above all. His new collection is more twinkling than ever, rich in brockets and lamés. It is baroque, it is rock, it is at the opposite of the ambient minimalism. Some of the silhouettes are so full of effects that they recall the luxury court of Louis XIV, with fitted coats and tapestry velvet go over metallic leather jeans.

A. F. Vandevorst

A. F. Vandevorst proposes a monochrome urban amazon. Laced corsets, wide belts and strengthened shoulder straps structure a silhouette of almost medieval rider. After a beginning in beige and black, brick colored elegant outfits confirm its return next winter. Velvet and leather get involved for a fluid and very wearable silhouette.

Okay, I want to know how you like this collection. I like the mix of leather and very airy, soft fabrics. I love the feminine looks, almost wild and animal (can you see their influence?). I like the equestrianism style (or horse backridding outfits) however I would not see myself wear most of what Galliano proposed. It’s fun to watch though!
